Combination Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Science And Master of Science

The School offers a degree program sequence combining either the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and the Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Ecology. This program consists of the existing Bachelor's degree requirements, except that eligible students take up to 9 credits of graduate courses as part of their undergraduate electives, as approved by the School. These graduate courses count towards the required 30 credits for the Master of Science (thesis and non-thesis) in Interdisciplinary Ecology. This program can be completed in one or more years beyond the Bachelor's degree.

The two degree programs that constitute a combination degree are expected to be “combined” in time. Combination degree programs are composed of a single contiguous and continuous set of closely related courses and other academic activities. A gap of more than two semesters between completing the bachelor’s degree and beginning the master’s degree is not permitted without an approved petition citing extenuating circumstances.

Eligibility Requirements for the undergraduate portion of the combination degree program:

1. Must have completed all preprofessional requirements and 15 credit hours of the Environmental Science core courses 
2. Senior status
3. Minimum upper-division GPA of 3.3

Eligibility Requirements for the graduate portion of the combination degree program:

1. Satisfactory completion of the undergraduate portion of the combination degree program.
2. Meet the requirements for admission established by the Graduate School and SNRE.
3. A member of the SNRE affiliate faculty has agreed to serve as the student's advisor and the advisor's department chair has agreed to host the student in the department.
4. The student is self-funded for graduate study unless some other arrangement is made.
